no need for wings

Choices
by Nikki Giovanni

if i can't do
what i want to do
then my job is to not
do what i don't want
to do

it's not the same thing
but it's the best i can do

if i can't have
what i want
then
my job is to want
what i've got
and be satisfied
that at least there
is something more to want

since i can't go
where i need
to go
then i must
go
where the signs point
through always understanding
parallel movement
isn't lateral

when i can't express
what i really feel
i practice feeling
what i can express
and none of it is equal
i know
but that's why mankind
alone among the animals
learns to cry

* * *

i found this poem at roxie's friendster blog. hmmm. "but that's why mankind alone among the animals learns to cry" that's something for me to think about - especially since it seems i've forgotten how to cry.

free will. God's gift to mankind. we're all given the right to choose our life's paths. this free will thing.. it's both a blessing and a curse, i think. just look up and see what i mean.

'nuff said.

You have forgotten how to cry...so many of us are out of touch with our feelings, do not even recognize we are feeling a certain thing, at times.

It's OK to feel anger. Why do I feel it? This is the question to ask.

It's OK to feel fury. Why do I feel this?

It's OK to feel hurt, but WHY do I feel this way, exactly?

These things we feel are all to lead us to ask why we feel them, and then USE OUR CLEAR THINKING to guide us into actions beneficial for all beings.

Free will is given to all beings, not just mankind.
